Ducks are a lot of fun. Mine don’t sleep in a coop, but we live in the desert so no snow. Yes they love to swim even as wee babies. I used a paint tray at first, then a gallon water bowl, then a tote and then a pool. If the breeds you get fly you’ll likely need to clip their wings. You can use an all flock feed and not have to have separate feed once they’re about six months old. They adore peas, need water deep enough to dunk their heads so they can clean their nares, and there’s no such thing as clean water with ducks around.

Female ducks do not climb on top of chickens. If you keep all females then none of these concerns are going to affect you.
Now I beg to differ with that. My drakes never mess with the chickens I have 3 drakes 2 Runners and 1 Muscovy. My Muscovy drake will grab a mouth full of feathers if a chicken gets too close to his space but they learn real quick to stay out of his way But my Muscovy Ducks will grab a chicken and not let go , I have looked out the window when I have heard my goose hollering [she is my watch goose] lol and see a Muscovy holding on for dear life as the chicken is trying to get away. Never has one been injured but it sure does make them upset. Now if I had one of my roos tied up out there that may be a different story altoghter.
