thinking about getting a pair of guineas?

I was thinking about getting a pair of Guineas but need more info about them. Do they Crow at the break of Dawn?? And do they get along with the chickens and will the male Guinea fight with my Chicken Roos.??? Do they need to be housed seperately, and Ive heard they can be loud , so how loud would just 2 be, or should I just get a couple of Guinea hens instead? Thanks Sandy

They are very noisey and don't crow. Mine will make noise all night and day. Most nights they are quiet. If they see something they will sound off an alarm. The roos are aggressive to my chicken roos. One of them has actually been aggrivating my blue orphington roo so much. I hear the slamming against the wire and go chase off the guinea. I got them for bug control. It's the only reason they are here.My blue orphington is a beautiful bird but his come and waddles are a little beat up from him and the guinea fighting through the wire. They can't really get to each other but it irks me that Blue is being harassed.

i have a male guinea that really doesnt bother the roosters (maybe because my roosters are all game) but that guinea will put his wings up and chase the gamehens around so far hes never caught one or hurt
as for housing i let mine pair free range with gamehens they have survived for 3 years roosting in a pine tree
so far for the noise my roosters make alot more noise always crowing the guinea rooster doesnt make as much noise as the hen from my observation.

You need at least 6 guineas to make 1 brain!

They do make a bunch of rackett but some get use to it. They can be aggressive to other birds especially when penned with them. I have 1 free range black ameracauna rooster who lives in the barm most of the time with a chocolate palm jake. I have no chicken hens that free range. Yesterday when I was feeding, the rooster mounted a guinea hen! Guineas don't like new birds comming into the flock. They are great watch dogs and when bugs are out, they don't eat much feed. I love my guineas and my 14 free rangers fly to me from the fields when I call to them. I love to see them fly.

Guinea fowl have great alarm systems. When they sound depends on the situation. Anything new or strange could trigger the alarm. My Guinea hens have lived with my chicken hens for a year now without problems. When it comes to treat distribution, I usually select 2 separate areas because the chickens get to the treats faster and then the Guineas get frustrated and try to shoo the chickens away.
