Chickens are messy creatures by nature. They dig in bedding and dirt, they dirt bathe and spray dirt everywhere, they poop constantly and they require regular cleaning. The coop and run will need to be cleaned every 1-4 weeks depending on size and how many chickens you will be keeping. Deep clean it twice a year. Also, cleanliness also depends on bedding. Shavings produce lots of dust. Straw can get moldy. Sand is cold in the winter.
