Thinking about switching to Mazuri?

I think I got the maintenance and breed for around $32 a bag, from what I remember. That's Delaware prices. Had to drive 35 miles each way to get to the place. They were one of the certified, or whatever Purina calls them, distributors, so they took pride in being able to special order Purina products for their customers. Don't try talking yourself into buying the Purina gamefish food that is usually in stock at Tractor Supply...it's got 32% protein, part of it pork protein I think, and it has a fish attractant on it that repels Mallards (although Muscovy ducks don't mind it).

That is defiantly quite a savings and if I could find that around here I would defiantly try to stock up on it. I've been thinking about going into exotics species next year and would defiantly want to give them the best possible feed. Although I might try that Gamefish food if I get into cichlids again.

What's really funny about the Mazuri food is the geese eat it, don't really spill much- a pellet here and there and then the chickens come behind them and pick up the rest. No waste. :P I haven't yet tried the Mazuri with my ducks but I am this weekend- found a local place finally that sells some and cheaper than the online price. Score!

When you use the oline search for feed stores (through Purina) you have to look for a Purina Certified dealer. Then you will have yourself someone who can order the Mazuri in for you.

I picked some up today. It was about $5 less in the store than online. HUGE bag oh my goodness! My ducks didn't really know what to do with it at first rofl. It looks like cat food. They walked up to it- all 14 of them gathered around the giant black food bowl. And Stared. STARED. hahaha Then started quacking amongst themselves. Then they all walked off and jumped into the pond. bwahaha! They came back later and nibbled experimentally. ;)

The Mazuri waterfowl feed floats (unless you specifically bought the type that sinks). You could try tossing a handful out onto the pond when your ducks are there and see if they'll eat it on the water. Most ducks seem to like it better that way (more natural way to eat!).

I did that yesterday- wasted a whole handful. They totally ignored it and swam away. Not even a curious bite or two. :\ Now bust out the peas and it's feather city. LOL
