Hello chicken friends,

I have a 6 week old chicken whom I purchased as a sexed "Araucana" one day old chick at a local feed store. I am thinking Hettie is a rooster, and I am wondering if there are enough signs to suggest roo as we have a city ordinance that doesn't allow roosters so I would like to try to find Hettie a home if that is the case.

Reasons to think Hettie might be a he:
-Comb turned red early on, and it looks as though there might be three rows. Other chickens combs do not look like Hettie's.
-Larger than my other chickens, and Hettie is stronger
-Feet are larger
-Hettie is "top dog." Hettie is not friendly towards me or the other chickens. She runs from me, is very skittish, and generally unfriendly compared to my other chickens. She picks on the other birds, and will peck them or chase them. Kind of a meanie.
-Seems to have a more multicolored feather pattern
-Tail feathers seem very pointed, even for an "Easter Egger"
-Looks mean, haha

Thank you for any insight you might have! Even if it is to say, wait and see! I'd be happy to be wrong.
*Working on finishing up our coop, so the girls are still in the brooder, but get outside time!
*Also took these photos before water, and food change!

He's definitely a boy. The comb is pretty large, and the red feathers on his shoulders are a dead giveaway. His breed is technically an Easter Egger, not an Araucana or an Ameraucana, as his coloring and comb type aren't right.

Hello,

Thank you SO much for your response. Yes, I know that most Araucana's from feed stores are easter eggers that is why I put it in quotes and referred to Hettie as an easter egger further down. I learned a lot on the website thanks to helpful people like you! Thank you again. I hate this news, but I am glad to know.
