I know what ya mean on the beard/muffs because I've been hatching out silkie mix eggs in my 'bator and almost all the chicks had muffs/beards! lol.

I'm always up for pictures of naked necks!

The combination of naked neck and beard/muffs can make for very cute birds- a common result is a missing beard, leaving a "side burns" look on the birds but it varies from bird to bird how much or little muff or even some beard they show.

I love the idea of mixed colors(I tried to make red duckwing and wheaten and was also hoping for crele polish many years ago. Many of the hens also laid blue eggs.. just something I tossed in for sheer genetic fun of it..). It kind of seems "pure bred colors" is more popular when it comes to selling though.

A naked necked WCB has to look neat- black body, red neck and a white crest.. Heh.

Anyways, looks like there are a few of us(me included) that would be very interested in keeping up with your project progress.

p.s. for Dipsy- he uses TN, turkey neck for 'em.. I prefer to read that as 'turken neck' though..

I won't be good for much more than a 'cheering section', but I'm definitely interested. I adore Naked Neck birds.

Now you really caught my attention! The white-crested black would be interesting, too. What color are your Turkens (please say you have black, please say you have black)?

Thanks Kevin, I couldn't figure that out. I'm sheltered and never heard a NN referred to as a Turkey Neck or TN.

Yes I do have a black turken

I tried to get one of each color I saw so I will have some crazy colors I hope!
I can't wait till they start laying cause I have 2 willing roosters...lol...just waiting on the girls!
I may take y'all up on test hatchers! That way I could see more of the variants of the mixes.

I'm going to try to get some pictures of each of them tonight and I'll post them in the first post I think..to be organized.

Happyhappyjoyjoy! If you cross your black Turken with your splash Polish --- you'll get all BLUE chicks! I'm partial to blue

Black Turken x white-crested black Polish, I would *guess* would give all-black chicks (but I've had rotten luck keeping wcb Polish here and never got any to breeding age to experiment).
This is almost as exciting as crossing birds here (and I don't have to build pens).

They look like mini ostriches to me, lol!! Like them better than the pure turkens I think - I just can't get used to chickens with no feathers there. Good luck with your project - I think you will do well!
