I have east blue indie and they are fun to watch, very pretty. They like to get up on the barn roof to roost at night, or the garage roof or in the trees. I keep mine with the chickens, well they can go in with the chickens, ducks and geese, but they mainly stay in the open part of the barn. The thing I DONT like about the pea cock, is he loves hens[chicken] with chicks, he will NOT leave them alone, he has to be up the hens butt all he can be, of course she dont like it and she gets all upset and flys into him, but he just wont leave a hen w/ peeps alone. The other thing I dont like about him is, about everyother day he will pick 1 roo out and he will pick and pick and pick on that roo and follow the roo everywhere and pick on the roo some more. We will have to run him off or pen him up in another part of the barn so he cant bother the hens with peeps or the roos. When he is done picking on all of the roos, he will then pick on the tom turkey, he has darn near killed the tom more then once. He has a rutine with the roos, he will make a circle, he'll start with one then keep going til he done picked on everyone then the tom and then starts all over. Now if we have hens w/peeps, then the roos and tom gets a breck, but the poor hens gets to their wits ends with him.
If I had my say, My Peacock would hit the road, but he belongs to my better half and company loves to look at him.
The sounds he makes are pretty neat also, took some getting used to that, esp. in the middle of the night..................
Im not saying all are like this one, but that is what our peacock does. The pea hen is a good girl, no problems with her what so ever.................
