I am new to hatching and just set 29 silkie eggs! This is my third try and I am hoping the outcome will be better than the first two!

1st try was 7 eggs bought from ebay. I had 2 hatch...not bad for shipped eggs.
2nd try was 18 eggs I picked up at the Northeast Poultry Congress - I had 10/18 that were fully formed but lost power due to a blizzard on day 20 and only had 4 or the 10 survive and unfortunately only 1 was from the dozen Golden Egg Silkies.
3rd try: Shipped from BYC'er. I put 29 eggs into my Genesis 1588 w/ turner @ 7am.

I am addicted to hatching!!!!

I have a good feeling about this batch!!! I can't wait to candle!

A watched cake won't rise, and a candled egg won't hatch. Wait to day 12 or so before peeking in the oven.

Are you kidding? You really believe that? You may not see a cake rise, but it will rise. There are 1000s of eggs candled at day 7, 14 & 18 & there are 1000s that hatch successfully. I've candled at day 3 on my own eggs with no problems, but day 7 is more normal

A week is a lifetime when waiting for eggs to hatch! Is candling in any way bad for the eggs? I usually candles at day 3 or 4 then every few days and keep track of which eggs have growth.
