I'm second guessing myself on this 18 week old. I need to thin the flock, but don't want to part with a pullet.

Thanks!
Bailey

I'm glad to see disagreement already! makes me feel better.

It's hard to tell on the solid buff background...

I think that looks like a girl but that comb is pretty red? I don't think the legs look thick, I don't see the saddle feathers yet and the hackle feathers look rounded except for the pic that she's walking away in. Other that the comb, looks like a girl.

At 18 weeks, what makes you think boy? Legs are pretty thin, I dont see any rooster feathers. Im not familiar with buffs, but nothing is screaming rooster at me, especially at 18 weeks. Why not PM Jean (Pips and Peeps). She can tell you for sure.

I beat you to it! It's actually Jean's baby, so she'd know best. I hope she'll chime in soon.

I was keeping that part a secret so that when some smarty pants tried to tell me it was an EE I could tell them where it came from. ha ha ha.

I guess it just looks a little athletic for a pullet, and a little leggy. My wheaten cockerels of the same age have more hackle/sadle/sickle growth. Of course their coloration gave it away MONTHS ago. Oh how I love Wheatens....
