Hi, I got a dozen eggs from the farm nearby and put them under a broody chicken. One egg was blue, hatched along with the rest. All of the chicks developed into what are referred to here as "indios", a mottley and very common type of chicken with some obvious asian background. Interesting thing is that I thought maybe this blue egg would hatch an Amerauncana or similar, but no....she looks just like the rest of the "indios" (they look quite like Malay). More interesting, I discovered that the mottley-everyday chickens here maybe the same or similar to what I´ve been reading about, called "Brazilian game fowl", which is funny, as they´re not viewed here as any special breed, they´re almost ferral here.....question is, what do you guys think about this chicken? She´s just started to lay olive green eggs. I´m intrigued. I don´t think she looks anything like an Ameraucana, nor Araucana. Guesses? Opinions? Sorry can´t post any pics, the attachment link says I´m not allowed,

Hi, thanks for response...not chipmunk, she hatched solid blue/grey. She´s now a hen, beautiful blue, I will try again later to post pics. She looks nothing like an Ameraucana, except she has the tiniest comb. Well, not a comb, a pimple. She´s presently with my Brahma cock to see what it produces. he sires a lot of blacks, so I´m hoping for some blues along the line.

Hmmm I'm quite curious as to what it is then.

the wait begins for the pictures.....

Hi brahma-breeder, I still get the "no permission to create attachment" thing come up, although I´ve attached photos a few times before. Never mind, doesn´t look like I´ll be able find the identity to this one, but thanks anyway for your interest. She´s now laid 7 blue-green eggs, so I´m hoping she´ll sit.....it´ll be interesting to see what she produces with the brahma cock. Bye
