the poppster:
Ha!!!!!! Great Story!
I had an awesome silkie rooster named "Wooster". He was born in spring of 2013 but we got them from someone else; we didn't breed him. He was sooooo FUNNY!!!!!!!
Wooster had a huge personality. He showed off his stuff a lot by flapping his wings and crowing. He showed off until I came towards him. He would back down and say,"Oh poo!". Then he would get nervous and run around the yard, balking. He threw himself into the fence a lot! He would try to escape but he couldn't. When he'd give up, he would scream as if he were saying,"Please don't kill me!!!". I picked him up and pet him after that. I know its bad to freak him out like that but, oh well.
He had three other siblings: a girl and two roos. We had to give away the other siblings because we wanted to keep the "female". Well, I was at school and mom caught three and gave them to some people. What she didn't know was that she kept Wooster, a guy.
Wooster never was very mean to the hens. He mated with them and stuff but that was all he did to them besides looking after them. He was white and he never got his poofyness, or his puff on his head. He had dark, purple skin that on the end of his wings, that scabbed up and bled a lot. He had odd feet, with five toes and his spurs (its normal, but it looks weird).
One day, I was giving them grain in the yard on a cloudy day in 2014. All were calm as I threw the grain at them. Then, I stopped throwing it for FIVE SECONDS!!! When I threw some, it hit Wooster and he jumped really high, and landed on his back. I laughed so hard! All I did was give them grain! True story. I never lie about chicken stories.
He also got on my nerves because he got on a girl and ripped some feathers out. I was also just energetic and mad already when I picked him up and threw him in the pond. Yes, its stupid. Did he swim? Yes. He swam to shore safely and soaking wet. I felt bad after I did that. He maybe wanted to hide in a hole for a while after that.
Sadly, after a year or so, Wooster (after so many memories and fun times) died. A bear broke into the coop and killed Beauty, one of my favorite Buff Orpingtons (thats another story) without a sign. Then, Wooster was laying on the ground without any sign of scratch. He wasn't stepped on or anything. I'm pretty sure he got scared to death, because he was always a scared rooster.
I miss Wooster a lot, but I've moved on. I want a rooster again. We can't get one yet. I have 20 chickens now: two buffs (we used to have six), two Light Brahmas (used to have four others), five Barred Rocks, Three Roadies (one chick died), five Americanas, two Delawares and three Golden Laced Wyandottes.
