I hatch a lot of mottled from my flock, so I'm used to looking for it.

The lighter, fawn'ish color looks to me like chocolate or maybe lavender. More pics in different lighting would help with that.

The hatchery is Mt Healthy, they can only send something they offer. And, their policy is to send an extra of a breed that was ordered. They don't send something entirely unexpected.

As someone I know is fond.of saying, when you hear hoofbeats, think horse... not zebra

The hatchery they got their chicks from doesn't advertise any mottled breeds

I purchased both mottled and splash chicks (different hatchery) and my splash chicks looked similar to the mystery chick above, including a dark spot on the head.
