About 4 weeks ago we got 8, 10 week old white leghorn girls. They weren't accustomed to being around people very much so every time we went to the run they would run away rapidly and cry. The older girls were nice though and didn't pick on the younger girls, which made me very happy and the roo seemed indifferent to them as well.
Last week we took 3 dozen worms out to them (worms are expensive!) and hand fed them, they had a ball! They ran around yanking worms from each other, even from the older girls. The roo never got to eat a worm, poor guy.
Now every time we go into the run the little girls come running and run around our feet chirping like they're saying "feed me more treats!" Some have even allowed us to pick them up. It's so fun to have them start becoming more friendly and being cute! Just wish I had worms in my yard so I didn't have to pay for them.

Have you fed them spaghetti? Spaghetti, yogurt and cabbage hung (by screwing a c-hook into the core) just above their heads so they have to jump for it!
I looooove watching them!

I'm glad your girls are doing well!!!!

Have you tried meal worms? Way less slimey and usually about 7-12 bucks for up to 1 thousand of them. Our hens and chicks love them! Or were you talking about meal worms?

I loved watching them jump for the worms. Especially the big fat roo. He's almost 2.5 feet tall so he would jump quite high even though he didn't make it far off the ground.
Cabbage? I'll have to try that. Thanks!
I tried meal worms, they were $3 for 12 and not as much fun to watch since they couldn't do the steal and run thing with them. They were like M&Ms. Pop 'em in and they're gone.
