A man I know sexes his pigeons this way. I have seen him do it. Only he used a string and a wooden bead but he swears by it. He said it is an old oriental method. And he has got some really nice show pigeons. He has been in pigeons since he was in the service. They sell them in Foys Pigeon Supplies catalog(I hope I can say that!)

the thread just long enough to hold in hand and dangle down about 3 inches and about 2 inches above egg?bird. I dont think it matters if its double thread or not, i would try single,tie a not and then thread through other end. thats how his was. I dont know if his beads had metal in them and if the metal in the needle makes a difference, are there different kinds? OF metals in needles?
