1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? -
I am almost a year into having six spunky chickens, we got these ladies in May of 2022
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now, six! Hoping maybe two this spring!
(3) What breeds do you have?
With names and breed attached
Hei hei - Wyandotte
Penelope- Orpington
Margaret and Jolene - Brahma
Charlotte and Melia - Australorp
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
For someone who has social anxiety, these girls have helped me get out of the house and spend time with them, and being in the sun. Who knew chickens could be so relaxing. But also watching them grow from baby chicks to now, they all have different personalities that I love so much
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Hiking, reading, gardening, I have two dogs so being with them, baking, and using my Cricut to make shirts or mugs, whatever I can think of to make!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a 7 year old step daughter, my boyfriend is a firefighter, and I work in the medical field with autistic kiddos. We have two dogs, Remi she’s a 13 year old pit bull/cattle dog, and Navi she’s 2 German/cattle dog (I guess we have a thing for cattle dogs)
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC just browsing Google! I had no idea this was a website I could easily join, and I’m so happy to now be apart of the chicken community! I did more digging and realized I could learn A TON from all different people, and now I’m here and so excited to learn!
