Hi all! I purchased 2 dozen fertile eggs. Breeds were listed as Rhode island red, sussex, leghorn, red sex-links, plymouth rock and australorp.
This guy hatched and i first assumed it was a barred plymouth rock but then noticed a rose comb.. hmm dominique maybe but nope, it has 5 toes!?
I saw her flock and there were no silkie or silkie cross birds. All birds i saw appeared like what she listed and were in seperate pens (minus the red sexlink parents)
is there a non silkie 5 toed rose combed breed or did someone do a sneaky??

Surprise!
Single comb is recessive, so if all parents had single combs, this wouldn't happen. Were there any adults with other comb types there? It seems like there was another bird involved, not seen by you that day.
Mystery birds are fun! See how this one turns out...

Hmm i didnt have a super close look at a few of her large pens (got hooked on the RIR lol) so its possible there were some i over looked. This one is definitely a keeper, says my daughter so we will see how it grows
