Went out to feed our chickens and saw this boy hanging out in our coop. I think one of our neighbors, who got some our chicks from is earlier this year, decided to return an unwanted rooster. He's the same breed and size of the ones we hatchedast April; we kept a few for diversity.

That’s just rude.
I'm actually kinda pleased; neighbor fed him for 6 months and now he's going into our bachelor pen for fattening up. Another couple of weeks and he and six other young roosters will be going into the freezer.

Truth is, I've had several people end up with roosters from my wife's chick addiction, and asked if they could bring the roosters back. I always say yes, but no take-backs and don't ask how he's doing because roosters are born for the crockpot as surely as sparks fly upward.
