This is taking so long!!

First time hatching. Started with 12 eggs, 2 stopped developing by day 10. Incubators count down shows 1 day left, but 6 of the 10 have pipped! Now just waiting for them to zip and finish hatching and it’s taking FOREVER.

It is such a long process! Just try and remember the chicks are doing something in that egg, not just being lazy! The wait to meet them is long, especially near the end (feels like forever!) but rewarding in the end. Some of my chicks have gone from pip to zip within an hour, and some have taken over 24 hours to zip from pip. It’s really dependent on the chick!

It is rather amazing that these eggs go from potentially being in our breakfast sandwich to a living, walking being in 21 days. And then into much bigger monsters in the next 21 days.

We are up to 8/10 pipped now. The first was pipped early this morning, 7:30 or earlier, so hopefully not too much longer

I usually have chicks pipped for 12 hours or so.

The second one that pipped this morning is now zipping.
Sadly I’ll miss it hatching due to it being bedtime.

You could hatch chicks and sell them? I know people want them! But it is hard saying goodbye to chicks !
