Omg!

We have a large sofa in our bedroom which is on my husbands side of the room... Which by the way, I just happened to kneel on last night in order to look out the window so that I could see the chicken coop. So I guess I must have messed up the cushions a little. But! That's a darn good thing...

Because.... Just a little while ago my husband went to go straighten those disheveled cushions, and apparently our sneaky little dog... He being smaller than our hens -a Bantam Dog of sorts, had somehow gotten up on the kitchen table, sneakily took one of the chicken eggs ...and hid it In between the cushions of the bedroom sofa!

(The egg was fertile, so I don't know if he was going to try to hatch it or what?)

...Thank gawd my hubby found the egg... This could have gone bad, very, very, bad.

I suspect your doggie wanted a chick friend.

Glad you found the egg without it being broken or going rotten on you! That could have been really bad. sounds like a cute pup, he must have some terrier in him because they are so smart and always making trouble.

I lived in a really old farmhouse at one point. I had a husky and a house cat. I would lay in bed at night and listen to the two of them chasing mice. One morning, I sat on the living room couch to put on my shoes and I looked down and saw this shoe string sticking out from between the cushions.

Nope! it was a mouse. I assume the dog won that night and had stuffed the trophy down between the cushions to keep the cat from stealing it. Luckily there was only one in there, and I had a new routine of checking cushions every morning before work.

ol! Thank goodness we don't have mice.

I said that maybe Scout thinks he's the Easter Bunny, and that's why he's hiding the eggs.

He's the little one in this picture; Daisy -the lab is our other dog, who helped me raise our chicks (she is so good with her chickies). She's sulking because my son had just bathed her (she hates it when anyone but mama bathes her).
