This is Zebe (depending on the child saying it, that is pronounced either with a long e, a la zebra, or a short e, a la how I say it). She has all the personality in my small flock. She is shy but curious until you bring out the blueberries. Meal worms take a back seat for the fresh blueberries in Zebe's world. If I hold my hand out, Zebe and one other will swipe them all. I've started to play "go chase the blueberries" as I toss them around the run so the others have a chance. Don't be sure that means they get theirs. The chicken that stupidly drops their blueberry to reposition it is likely to lose it to Zebe. She will zap so fast across the run and have it down the trap before they realize what happened. You would think that is the behavior of the top dog, but poor Zebe is the bottom of the totem pole according to the actual top dog (don't tell Zebe that though, she thinks she's still middle of the pack). Zebe is just lucky that top dog can't eat most snacks as she has a scissor beak so she stays out of treat time (unless there is a peach involved and then everyone knows they better stay the heck away until she has her fill).
Within the last week or so Zebe has started to develop her big girl sounds. She will be walking along and some baw gawk comes out of her and freaks her out. She comes to a complete stop and looks around going "where in the world did that sound come from?"
Zebe also has a knack for wanting to roost on anything. There are a couple higher bars above her head, but gosh forbid one actually uses them for roosting on. The edge of the water bowl and the dirt bath tub totally make more sense then the ones that were made for it. Since this picture I had to change the water bowl by placing a 2 liter bottle in the middle of it. Silly bird kept turning around and pooping in it.
She also loves to see herself on the camera. This one would definitely be the one with the selfie stick roaming around Disney. I just hung them a mirror to the outside of their run and she was also the first to scope that out as well.
Zebe has been a joy to watch and interact with and I just wanted to share some of her with you.
