This makes SO sad and sick...

Yeah...that is a shame! I think of grandpa and how ticked I would be if he encountered something like that...
That should bring a lot of bad publicity for that HMA...maybe enough that the decision will be changed...

I know..i wont even send this to my father (a Vietnam vet)..because it makes me so ashamed that our country would do this to this poor old Vet.
Nope..i wouldnt want to hurt his feelings...or any vet for that matter..
Shame on those people. Lets see how they feel when another terroist attack hits us here and one of their family members dies... lets see if they will complain about a Veterans flag pole then... Flippin idiots..

Okay I will be the bad guy here. I served, and do fly a flag, but I did not buy into a developement with a homeowners association that spells out that it is against the rules to put up a freestanding pole.

Not as dramatic, but if I buy into a HOA, that prohibits chickens/ducks/turkeys, just because I farmed for 25 years and retired from farming, does not entitle me to break the rules. (I know not the best example, but rules are rules, how many other fine citizens would like the rules BENT, just this one time???

Those that served also know the importance of following orders/directions even if it isnt what we really want to do.

The way that I read it was that disallow flag poles mounted on houses like the ones that folks have with pretty flowers/animals etc.
Thats why he went ahead and installed the flag pole in the ground.... I think...

Thats it! I'm heading down there to chain my self to his flag pole in protest...AND i'm bringing him chickens too! I'll really stir them up..

Read again house mounted flagpoles are allowed.

So he knew he was not allowed to have the freestanding pole, but he chose to go against the rules, and now he being threatened with further action if he does not conform

I wonder if he could mount the 21ft pole to the side of the house? Ok A slight loophole to the rules, but they say house mounted flags are allowed.

Come on now it isn't the country Its the dang HOA Like everyone else I wouldn't live in an area where some group of old fundy duddies had control over my property. Here in Florida they call them condo commandos they have nothing better to do than cause trouble. Maybe if there is enough flack he will get to keep the pole.
