Can I use Ivermectin equine paste wormer to worm my chickens? I have never, ever wormed my chickens before but it appears they may have finally become infected (saw one in the coop in a dropping). I have Ivermectic equine paste on hand and was wondering if I can use this and at what dose? I do not want to kill these poor ladies. I'm sure the dose would be very small as horses are much larger than chickens (obviously), I'm asking this because I remember seeing someone here use it for their chickens a while back.
If it's not ok, what would you suggest? I want something that will cover all or most worms. I don't mind an egg withdrawal period as I want them to be worm free and healthy. Plus intestinal worms give me the major creeps!
And can you catch intestinal worms from chickens? I was handling them a lot today and scrubbing their coop out real good. I know worms lay lots of eggs. I would probably pass out if I've ever contracted them.
