This may be a stupid question....

A weasel will go right through the chain link, and is capable of killing a whole flock in a single night, just for the fun of it. Unless the chain link is buried 18" under ground, and the top of the run is covered, it is not predator safe.

...and there usually gaps between panels/gates in a chain link enclosure that coons can squeeze thru.
 
The top is covered with chicken wire, as well as the bottom of the chain link is wrapped in chicken wire on the inside of the run.

Not sure how predator proof it is, but the one we are going to be building is going to be much much better.
 
Chicken wire will not stop a predator that wants in. Even those only making a half-hearted attempt will get in without much effort. I think closing your coop would be a good choice. As many others have said, "Chicken wire is made to keep chickens in, but doesn't keep anything out."
