So this my aviary.

It's still being worked on and I'm still adding edits. It was left abandoned on my property for 50 to 70 years by an old Italian man how bred a lot of birds and sold them to older pet stores. It was filled to the brim with ivy and was a little flooded. However with a few months work it became what it is today. I only have Australian birds and I'm going for Australia/South America vibes. In getting ready to plant some tall, large leaf, birds safe plants. In my aviary I have a colony of zebra finches with about 15 pairs and 10-12 pairs of diamond doves. It also had a pond which at first was filled with mosquito babies. I then cleaned it all out and put in some minnows to eat the baby mosquito's. At first after I got all the vines out the floor was just dirt and mud. However today it's completely different. I made 3 "islands" which hopefully, will be filled with tropical plants. And to contrast to the color full islands with black boulders around the edge of it, is an "ocean" of white gravel. My birds are actually colony nesting and have made what looks like a giant turd in the roof with over five nests attached to it.

So I have some amazing updates. Compared to the first photo now look at how much life there is!!! Now I have multiple coturnix hens and California Valley Quail! Here are some photos!

This is my favorite nest my hens have build. The built it into the rocks after my tortoise abandoned it as a den.

Now those "islands" have tons of life" and the quail love finding bugs in the leaf clutter!

Here is the the pond! The minnows are eating all the misquotes and I have so many I'm trying to make some patio ponds to put the extras. The snails have kinda all died out. I might get some other kinds of snails, like yellow ones. I'm wondering if shrimp might do well?
