As a chick he was mostly white with a few black spots, I have not been able to even give a guess at which breed he is (guessing it's a 'he' that is).

Dark Cornish.

Barnevelders have single combs, and especially hatchery quality ones are rather lanky.

mine!! I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it looks like a pullet. With that much feathering, I would think that the comb would be bigger and redder. Plus, they get their shiny saddle and hackle feathers pretty early. Of course, it could be a late bloomer.
