Chirping
I bought 14 "pullets" from Tractor Supply a month ago today. This little (RIR) one's comb literally tripled in size overnight & became bright red. I couldn't get a good pic of the color with my phone. Boy or girl?

Oh boy!I've never had any RIR but for 4 weeks old looks like a cockerel![]()
I was actually hoping that one of them would be a cockerel so he could be raised & grow up with the girls & protect them. So it's a good thing. He is a cockerel... the first chickens I got were RIR and the rooster was apparent early. He was tamer and more fun than the hens as he was very bold and inquisitive. He used to follow me when he saw the shovel because he would eat the bugs when I dug. He was smart. I think birds bought in those kind of situations are always getting mixed up and this happens.
They told me that I'd probably lose a couple but everyone of them are thriving! They eat like little pigs. I am so in love with all of them.I'm so happy you'll be able to keep him! Too many times ppl are quickly disappointed because they cannot have or don't want males.
TSC along with other feed stores are notorious for either mislabeling breeds and/or gender bins
