It's been raining hard for three days. My run is a swamp, my goat pens are swamps. The does' building flooded. My mini-coop wasn't built for this kind of deluge either. Everyone is wet and miserable. It wasn't raining too hard this morning, so I let the chickens out for a little exercise. Now it's pouring and I can't get them in the coops. As if all that wasn't irritating enough, my garden is near ruin. We've been in a drought, so I've been a little stingy with the water. All of this rain packed into such a short time has made all of the tomatoes crack. Also, I can't get out there long enough to collect all of the squashes and cukes, which are rapidly growing to the inedible stage. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're getting some water, but couldn't it be spread out a little better?
