I had a preditor attack on my flock this past summer & lost 4 pullets. My oldest flock leader gal turned "Rooster" immediately! She stopped laying & started crowing and acting very rooster protective. It lasted about 3 months. She started sporadically laying again and stopped crowing. We got a puppy right before she switched back to hen...so im not sure it that was why she switched back to hen.
