Maybe put water on half of it, and see which half they like best, if it's a big area.

I haven't read the other replies but I would recommned these things to keep your chickens cool:
*Hang up lettuce in their run.
*Put ice cubes in their water
*Provide shade

Ventilated means air can come in and go out.

Yes, those pictures show that your chickens have lots of ventilation. Every place that has wire fence or screen or just a hole or opening is considered ventilation.

Some people build a chicken house that is a tight wood box, with a door they close at night and no windows at all. Those people do not have good ventilation. Yours is fine.
