We have a little 13yr old girl at our home frequently and have had for the last three years. She is not related to us although we love her like she is our own. We only have one of our hens that is laying. She has laid in a nesting box twice and in a hay pile at least a dozen times. There is a space between some bales and she has a nice nest in there that's barely within reach. Kaleigh was on break from online school today and came out to look for eggs. Since the boxes were empty she checked in the hay. I was watching her when she stuck her arm into the nest and out came a big Orpington girl screaming and wings flapping. Kaleigh screamed too and the Rooster came running and making a racket too. I've never seen her laugh that much ever. Oh, there wasn't an egg.
