Ummm... well, looking back at my photos, May 25th!
As for the door, I seriously thought about leaving it, or rebuilding the egg door to match. However, as I looked at my 13-year-old almost done sealing the egg door I did not have the heart to rip it apart and replace that simple panel and tore the door apart. Well, that and I wanted the bead-board going up and down too!
I bought the latches at Lowe's and found them in a local hardware store. The nice thing is that you do not have to use the key and lock them to latch them. The "knob" will turn and latch the clasp without locking it. You "could just lock them in the evening and not have to unlock them in the daytime. I thought I had bought "keyed alike" latches but they did not match so I plan to bring the keys from the one on the door and try to match up the locks. The same ones in the hardware store did have keyed alike locks so worst case I return one, and buy new ones. I really want them the match so, I (A) have more keys and (B) don't have to fish for which key fits what. (Oh.. Oh.... and I HAVE to buy a fake rubber chicken key ring too!)
And again, thanks guys!! Oh... and now I have 5 chicks on the nest boxes and one way up in the rafters! I have just the one rafter in the center of the coop and am thinking that I might just leave that for them as a roost. I dobut I will be able to keep them off of it anyway! Any thoughts? They will be at "sitting level" to the large air vent facing the run this way. I could apply hardware cloth to wall in the top roof, but it makes the coop that much smaller.
