. My cats have been acting strange whenever I am outside putting the chickens away for the nite it’s been going on for weeks I live on a very busy street I didn’t think it was anything to scary intill I heard the screaming I ran out side and saw a fox it was trying to get in the yard and screaming it’s head off at my 2 cats The stupid fox was running around the yard trying to get in. the freaking fox was in street I will post pics on what I mean. One faces from my back door and the other pic is near my front door I can’t believe this fox lots of traffic I am up the street from the highway so there’s a lot of traffic and 18 wheelers The girls are lock up at nite and food and water is put away. Mr fox stop so could take is picture so odd he was like ya I know I am a fox hurry up and take it so I can leave:oops:

We have a fox around here, too. Except we don't have a fenced in yard, and have woods right behind and beside our house. I can't keep it out, which terrifies me. We have two cats, but they go in the woods frequently, and I am worried about them getting eaten!

Same with us we live in woods on all sides and are very isolated we have never had any problems but there has been a few fox sightings and bears have just walked through our back yard! It is quite terrifying and I always worry for my girls!

I'm surprised it didn't just climb the fence. Chain link makes a nice ladder for them.

I'm in the town next door and had a fox kill 6 a couple of weeks ago. At 10 am. There's also a coyote trotting through early afternoon and 2 hawks hanging around. Wish they'd eat some of the red squirrels and rabbits.

Most definitely. A lot of people mistake it for a fisher, not that they're fun to listen to either. Both are creepy to hear in the middle of the night.
I don't think we have fishers here...but I had no idea what it was until finally saw it with the spotlight standing on a big log 60' from back of house early one morning. The light didn't faze it one bit and it called several more times before loping away. It frequented my land all that summer.....and I have heard them since, now that I know what it is.
Raccoons, or just about any mammal, mating or fighting can raise the hair too.
