Not all birds have crests, so i guess it doesn't show up on a regular chicken chart. The crest is the poof of feathers on top of some bird's head - like a White Crested Black Polish, they have that poof of feathers on top of their head. And silkies are another crested bird, with a top knot of feathers on their head. Some silkies have large crests (highly desirable) and some have flatter heads. The roosters of any crested bird will tend to have wispy feathers coming out of the back of the crest. The females will have a more rounded crest.

i checked out your page and it might be a bit too early to tell the sex of your two silkies. But in the second picture, the silkie in the foreground appears to have some mighty big legs. i would suspect that one may be a roo. Please do post more pictures as they get older. There are lots of silkie lovers on this board that love, Love, LOVE guessing the sex of silkies (like me!).

I think roo as well. The crest does have uneven feathers, the stance is tall, and the tail has arching feathers.
