Those sweet little whiney quiet quacks my ducks make at night. What's that about?

During the day these female peking and white crested boldly wake up the whole neighborhood with their demands through loud loud quacking. It's really cute and everyone loves them.

As the sun goes down, they crowd around my fence (they sleep out on the pond at night) and just make these whiney little soft quacks.

What do those mean? Is it reflecting a certain emotion? Sleepiness, contentment, loyalty?

I'm just newbie duck parent but IF I was duck on a pond at night I'd not be quacking too loud to keep from alerting predators to my location. It could be there are predators out there & they're communicating that to the rest of the flock but trying to do so quietly.

I could just be way off base too. :hmm Just putting myself into the ducks webbed feet so to speak.

My duckies are seemingly up most of the night. They sleep with my ch9cjens, and when I am down on that part if the property at night, I can hear them making those sorts of noises. I was once down there super early in the morning - like 3ish - and I could hear the duckies. I call them my party girls.
