We were given these 2 babies the day after Thanksgiving. They were found wandering around hungry and thirsty. We are guessing they are about 2 1/2 months old now. I was told they may be Ameraucana, then I thought Black Rock but they have black legs, so now I'm thinking Maran. They have clean shanks and the black feathers have an iridescent sheen. I am hoping with fingers crossed that they are girls, so far they look it to me.
First pic is the babies next to my 5 month old little red hen, Nugget. She's banty and just gave me her first egg on Friday!!!

Here are some better pics of the "girls"

Yep! They both look like balck sex links. I have 4 of them and they lay like crazy... even in the -20 degree F. weather we have been having. Nice sized brown eggs. They normally start laying at about 16-20 weeks old. Congratulations!

I knew you guys would help me out. I am on this forum multiple times a day reading and hopefully learning all I can from you more experienced Backyard Farmers!
Thanks for the confirmation, guys. I guess I can stop obsessing over them for a while. They aren't the most friendly girls but I keep trying to convince them I'm not going to eat them every time I touch them. I'm still trying to find their favorite treat so I can win them over

I can't wait to be overrun with eggs!
