I posted a pic of this young Polish a couple of weeks ago along with the other one I have (same age -- looked the same except for color) and some of you thought they were both pullets. I was delighted. This pic here is a week or so old.

Well, this last week or week and a half this chick, now about 8 or 9 weeks old, has gone through some subtle changes. His Polish hair do is not as neat and rounded as it was and HE HAS STARTED CROWING!!! Yes, this is the third day he has perched on the highest spot in the chicken yard, flapped his wings, and let loose with a crow. His crows are not perfect yet, but definately he is crowing.

Now, at the time I posted I really wanted him to be a pullet. Since that time I have seen that pic. someone posted of that cross chick, they thought it might be Polish and a frizzle.......so cute. My priorities have changed. I think instead of getting rid of my Polish roo, I want to invest in a few frizzle pullets and an incubator.

Does anyone have anything I should consider before I take this step? I do need to learn more about frizzles and the breeds available. I still have time to prepare and to get my second coop and run fixed up for my layers. I will use the coop they are in now to keep my breeders seperate from the flock.

Any advice?
