A year ago we bought 3 RR and 3 leghorn pullets. One of the leghorns Rostered on me but the other 2 Leghorn pullets lay brown eggs. I thought they would lay white. I'm thinking they aren't white leghorns so what are they then?

I'm thinking maybe amberlinks or rhode island whites. They were in the same bins as Rhode Island Reds. But the yellow/amber feathers make me think amberlinks. What do you think?

Don't go too much on the yellow saddle and hackle feathers on the rooster. That yellow color is pretty common when he has the silver gene. That can show up on the hens some too but not as strong as on a rooster.

There are a lot of yellow legged, single combed, brown egg layers that those could be. They could be a breed or some type of mix or cross that some hatcheries seem to be developing and giving strange names. Trying to determine breed can be pretty tricky. They lay brown eggs so they are not leghorn.

They are not Delaware. Delaware have the Columbia pattern of black necks and tails.

On the hen, I would guess she is a white rock. She has the yellow legs, single comb, brown eggs, and body conformation for white rock. The rooster could be an amberlink but I would expect more gold or brown linkage.
