Pet quality for sure. Sorry if that is a disapointment.

Well you have to start somewhere. And it's hard to hatch from show quality birds that's why they're kind of divided between pet quality breeder quality and show quality. You can always try and pick the best ones that come out of your pet quality and set up a breeding pen with breeder quality birds and try to get show quality from those. But do you think I could maybe take the approach of selecting the offspring of the babies I’m buying and pick the best looking ones and breed up to a decent quality? The lady has some much better looking ones than these but I just can’t get a clear picture
Again it's really hard to tell from pictures and it's just hard to judge in general until they are about a year old they continue to fill out as time goes along. You can kind of take a guess by how small and wide their bills are when they are hatched. But that's about it.these are some of the call babies she
had hatched can you guess quality from a duckling? lol!![]()

Thanks so much! I really do appreciate it AM in 4h but I do not know of people even showing ducks anywhere near me i just like projects for myself basically thats why I'm in 4h!I have not seen enough show quality calls in person to be able to be a good judge, I am just going off of basic shape and Bill size from the pictures.
And there are other things to consider besides the shape, size and weight depending on what color variety. Each variety has its own set of disqualifications.
Here is some info from my call duck book that might help.
I think she may have decent birds I didn’t see all of her stock I never seen her whites they may be half decent but I appreciate the input I’m not planning on showing them but it would be fun is all I meanI am of the philosophy that if you want show birds buy the best you can at the time. Trying to breed up takes way too much time in effort and $$$. I've tried to do over the years but it rarely pans out. The downside I've found when Trying to source show stock is that:
1. No one wants to deal with me because I'm not known or showing
2. No one wants to sell birds/eggs to me because I'm not known.
I personally haven't had good experiences with show people but if you tell them you are in 4h then you might have decent luck. It's easier to breed down then trying to breed up.
Good luck!
That particular one looks like it has angel wing.Another pic
From what I can tell from the pictures, they are very nice ducks. They look pretty high quality. Good luck!Call and East Indies thanks for any input
