I'm trying to improve my breeding stock and would really like some opinions

Cochin roo looks nice. The white silkie looks good, nice creast. The cuckoo has a red comb. Aka dq. The splash is gods types could use a bigger creast. Look at re lavender silkie link and there are some nice typed silkies!

OK... I'll start!!

The pics are a bit small. If you could post them larger, that would be great.

The white cochin boy is lovely. I can't see him comb very well, but it looks like the points are all there and it's nicely upright. Is this a bantam?

Silkie hen has an incredible crest. I'd like to see a little bit fuller tail.

Cuckoo roo. Wonderful patterning. Would like to see a bit more "fluff" in the pantaloons. Pic is a bit dark. As usual, we'd all like to be able to get rid of the red comb, but it's very hard with the barring gene. I'll take 3-4 cuckoo hens if you have them for sale!!

Splash roo. Nice bird. Can't really see the color of his comb but size appears to be good. I really like to see more saddle feathers over the cushion, but I think that is a personal like. Cushion could probably be a bit more rounded. How old is he? This will probably get better with age.

All in all...a bunch of nice birds!! Keep breeding and hatching!! Don't get into the rat race of always thinking other people have better birds than yours. It's a numbers game after you have nice stock like you have now.

thanks this has been helpful. I'm breeding the cuckoo to the blackest hens I can find to get rid of that red comb, he is 10 months old he started crowing about two weeks ago. yes it is a bantam white cochin I love him, hubby"that thing is not a stuffed animal"

As an FYI...the barring gene also carries with it lighter skin. It is very, very difficult to get a cuckoo silkie with black skin and a dark comb. I understand there are a few around, but not many.

Ditto what Oldtimegator said. I love your Cochin, and I hope to have one like him someday. I have read that red combs on Cuckoos are just what you get

. If you can breed darker ones, you'd have to fight off the buyers!

The White Silkie looks like a hen to me, but there have been some that look likes hens and turn out to be roos. Could use a fuller tail, but over all very nice bird.

I like the Cuckoo. He appears to be younger, so he will look even better. I think they have been working on the comb color. But, I haven't seen any with mulberry combs. He has nice type.

I do not know anything about Cochins, but I think he is lovely.

The splash appears to be nice, I also agree his tail could be fuller.

Depends on the age of wether they still have more maturing to do and if they do they will fill out more. I was told by a Master Breeder G.M. that you want to make sure your Rooster is Superb, because he will give his good qualities to the chicks. However, you can not take a so so Roo and breed to an awesome hen and expect the same results.
