Really thrown for a loop on the out come of my crossing a Chamois Spitzhauben Roster with a Silver Spangled hen. I did this cross in hopes to deepen the gene pool of my chamois since my starter flock all are from the same hatch of ordered eggs.
Saw a thread here explaining potential out comes and the hens I could use to cross back to my boys. I realize I would have issues I'd have to select back out over time. However one of this crossing came out dark black and silver. The other turned out how I expected. Neither have a good blue leg like my chamois line or the silver line and neither crest is very high or forward facing.
Im going to do the same cross again next season with the same pair to see if this is something I can get more of and set multiple batches to have more chick's to play with.
Is this something I can use to make a black spitzhauben?
