How much does it cost to put shoes a draft horse?
What you say is so true. Drafts tend to be calm and gentle. but if something spooks them and they decide to bolt, a puny human holding on to a lead rope doesn't have much of a chance against a ton or more of frightened horseflesh determined to leave. They are extremely powerful.Drafts tend to be calmer than, say, Arabs or Thoroughbreds in general, but drafts are no different from any other horse - they can get startled at a new experience just like any horse. And a scared 2000# draft is even more dangerous! The "gentle giants" are that way because they are highly trained, used to a variety of environments, and worked daily.
