Thoughts on flock possibility?

Ladybug: I have a very nice mixed flock that I ordered from MyPetChicken. I added partridge Plymouth rocks and barred rocks from MyPetChicken . They are very very healthy and congenial. They are 16 weeks old. I ordered 5 hens, but one of the partridge rocks has turned out to be a rooster. But I am glad to have this beautiful rooster. Plan to breed partridge rocks in the Spring. I only keep cold- hearty birds.

When I got my first flock, at the time husband gave me a catalogue and told me to pick out which ones I wanted; Not to worry about price, No Assortments, no Rock Cornish x's pick out birds I liked for an 'everyday' flock.
So, I spent a couple days periodically reading about different breeds. My purpose for them was to provide food for the family, eggs primarily, fried chicken being the favorite of some members back then. Feed conversion rate was quite promising on Rock Cornish X; did not compute that 2 to 1 conversion would also mean anyone partaking of them as food would also gain weight nearly as fast.

New Hampshire hen I got was my favorite. when out free ranging and encountering millet she would crouch down and launch herself as if from a tightly bound spring at the seed heads that grew nearly twice her height. I Totally disagree with some descriptions I've read about Dark Cornish Game breed. One of the BEST foragers I've seen. I liked their coloring. Jersey Giant was first one to go broody, they were supposed to be a good dual purpose breed.

I hope everyone had a Good Thanksgivakkah I'll stop reminiscing now.
