Thank you. The learning curve is vast and I am enjoying learning. I was thinking of having a couple of separate coops/runs for breed specific mating, but then realized they could not free range together. Unless, I allow them out together until February, then confine through Feb beginning of March (5 weeks) then the eggs collected after the 5 weeks would be the pure breed...I think. Naw, I enjoy them, their personalities and of course their eggs. The extra, large cage/coop we have will be used for quarantine/discipline etc.Also, since Sapphire Gems are sex linked, they're a mix of a not-barred rooster and a barred hen. That gives you all barred cockerels and solid blue pullets
