Here are some pics of my coop in progress. I was hoping for any input from people who have experience. I'm curious what you think about the design so far? Will it have enough ventillation and light? How many roost should I try to fit in, and what would be a good layout? I have no plans just making it up based off images online. The sides will open up for easy cleaning, and the nest box will have an easy access egg door. It's roughly 4x8' 3x4' is coop space, 5x4' is pen space.

How many chickens do you think i can fit in here? I live in NY, about an hour north of NYC. Summers are generally cool (compared to the South where I grew up), and winters can get pretty cold. Although this is a tractor design, I'm probably going to keep in one area of my yard, and install an additional run for the hens when we are around.

Thanks for your time and input.

I think your coop looks SWEET.
As for how many chickens your coop/pen will hold, I do not know. Others have more experience than I do and hopefully they will chime in.

You can always come back and add ventilation later - BUT... it is probably easier to do it now. I'd opt for too much ventilation rather than not enough.

With this being a tractor, are you concerned about predators digging under and getting into the run, then into the coop? It if will be permanent, do you think it would be better to go ahead and make the entire Ark predator proof now?

I built an ark that size, and my 3 large girls fit nicely. 4 would work, but I believe it would stretch it a bit.
