My rooster started to walk with a limp. As you can see, the right bone is way off. Any idea what could have happened to him?

I am not a vet or radiologist, but one thing looks possible. He could have a right femor head separation, which would cause the leg to be turned out and very swollen. That could be from an injury. Hip and femur fractures can be very hard to heal. Is he really 11 years old?

Yes, he is 11 years old and I'm sure has nine lives. He is the first rooster I ever had. I actually hatched him. Do you know if there are any members on here that are vet's or radiologists that may know what is wrong with him?
He's such a sweet and comical roo, and so good to his hens. I just want to help him.

There are pictures of chicken slings and wheelchairs that are homemade if you Google them. It is amazing how well some pets will do. Of couse if he is suffering, I would recommend putting him down.

As for there being vets on here, I know there are a few. Some do not let on, but some fess up. As for radiologists, I would say only radiologists that own backyard chickens.

You may want to start another thread or change the title of yours to “Any vets who can read an xray,” or something similar.

Interesting concept! I was just told that this could be caused by Bumblefoot.
Although I did not notice any scabs on his foot, I will have to examine him on Monday.
Has anyone ever had this happen from a severe case? I guess if the staff was bad enough, it could cause the leg to swell to the point of distortion.
I check them all the time for bumblefoot, but maybe somehow this one got away.
I found this idea interesting, and thought I would pass it along. I will keep you updated.
