Thoughts? Sold hatching eggs, customer.. Update: We have babies! lol.

I've had people say that shipped clears were my fault and others say that I did bad pack jobs, when it is obvious from pics that they were reckless in opening the packaging and dumped the eggs. You can't control what people do with the eggs. If someone is polite and has had a bad hatch I usually offer replacements, but if you are rude and mean you get nothing.

Oh Cara you dont know how badly I have wanted to buy hatching eggs this winter, it's only now getting nice enough that I would trust ordering eggs from far away. You never know how long those eggs can stay in below freezing weather, just not worth it and you definitely cant blame the seller.

It never ceases to amaze me how short people can be with each other. I always try to be as polite and kind as possible in any situation.

I sincerely hope this guy has a successful hatch on Sunday. There's just no way, with proper incubation, he had NO chicks hatch. There is truly no way.

People suck!! When you deal with the public, ther is always going to be some that are difficult.

I bought a dozen EE eggs locally (I even suspect he is on this forum) by placing an ad on craigslist. When the seller contacted me, I wanted 6, and was going to pay $5 an egg (this was in frustration of dealing with "nutjobs on craigslist", my inexperience, and basic lack of patience) he sold me 12 for $12 , was very up front about them being a mix - i didn't care, just wanted another color other than brown eggs, and could not guarantee fertility. My broody is hatching 3 out of 4, I broke one candling, and 6 are moving at day 10.

I also bought eggs from from a member (Atlchick) from auction, and had the most pleasant experience, she put up with my noob-ness, went way above and beyond what I was expecting (I was sent 7 extra) and the only loss was my fault (and these eggs shiped from atlanta to new york, and the box was DROPPED on my porch by the mailman)

I have had nothing but positive things from this community (my lurking/researching old posts has given me such a stressfree hatch so far, and I learned what a water wiggler is

), its when you deal with the ones who are not as passionate that I cringe.

Update: He replied saying he CANDLED them and got nothing. I'm really surprised but I honestly cannot think of a thing we could have done on our side to cause this. I was thinking of giving him a 15 dollar refund? Should I give him a whole refund or what? Very surprising, I mean I am going on my third hatch with no issues. So now this is even more baffling. I'd say that has to be bad incubation on his part. If you are getting good results, then he should have at least gotten a few to grow. If you were to offer anything, I would offer a new batch of eggs with an instruction sheet, but not a money refund.

I was thinking a refund of a dozen eggs? Maybe two? I just have no idea what I could have done wrong, I've been well educated on how to care for eggs and chickens by this forum. I gave him nearly 4 dozen eggs for 30 bucks so I could never replace all those eggs, would be another huge loss for me.

Ask for the eggs back and candle them yourself. If they are fertile when you incubate them, then there should be no reason why they would not be at his house if he picked them up. Also, make sure he had his incubator set correctly. (Does he even have it ON?)

Crack those eggs open and double check for fertility. Don't give him his money back just because he is a jerk about it. I think you are being reasonable with him, although he is not.

my question is why did he wait until day 21.. If he candled the eggs as he claims he would have seen that they werent developing a long time ago... I think he is just trying to get a refund because he messed something up...
