Just saw this weird looking chicken egg collected today with thousands of "egg" like thing attached to the outside of the shell. Seeking advice on what it might be, some kind of infection to the chicken or the egg?
Excess calcium deposits. Usually an indication that the hen is getting too much calcium in its diet. Any chance this hen is getting added calcium in their feed or water? What type of feed is it getting, any supplements?
A substantial increase or change in calcium from the shrimp shells could be the culprit. If it is mixed into their feed directly and they are on layer feed, I would separate it out. If you notice your hens are devouring the shrimp shells (or egg shells) and ignoring their normal feed until the portion given is gone, you may want to reduce the amount, or eliminate altogether to see if egg quality improves.
