So one of my hens laid three "cocktail onions" on the roost last night. That is what they looked like. They were soft shelled eggs with no yolks. Two of them were connected and one was misshapen -- coming to a point where it connected to the other. I think the culprit was one of my two Buff Orps. One of them has had egg yolk peritonitis and doesn't lay at all and the other lays nice large eggs but only now and then (one every week or so). They both act healthy in every other way and get egg shells and oyster shells. The one who had EYP doesn't eat many of the shells if at all but the other one does when she's going to lay the next morning -- I can always tell who's going to lay by who is visiting the shell bowl. They get a balanced commercial feed as well as a 17% mix that I make myself. I supplement them with meat every day or so and they have access to a large yard with lots of green stuff and bugs to eat. They are in no way stressed and jump into your lap if you'll let them.

Are these "fart eggs" -- should I worry?

Thanks!
