First, I am at a 4-H contest with my boys, my daughter 8-year old daughter calls and says "Mommy, the chicks are at the post office!" Great, I am 1 hour north and the chicks are half an hour south of where I live. Seeing that it is Saturday there was no way I was leaving them until Monday to be delivered. I am certain if I had the 3 bantam cochins would have been DOA. Luckily, everyone is alive and I got 2 extras (sexed!) and my free "rare or exotic". This was a batch from McMurray. I wish they hadn't sent them on Friday, but they all look GREAT!!! I will post pics soon, there are 8 breeds plus the unknows (which you know I am tackling the solution to that!
)
IN ADDITION, I am hatching duck eggs for my neighbor and they are peeping, pipping and zipping when I came in this afternoon. I double checked and it is only day 26. What up??? I about freaked because I was going to take them out of the turner in the morning. Is it possible that they started developing before I put them in the bator? My neighbor collected for a week before bringing them over. Seems crazy to me, but they are coming. I didn't want them to get stuck in the turner so I quickly grabbed them all out and put the on the wire. I hope that wasn't a bad thing. They are progressing, so I will have to watch them all night.
My little girl is SO SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY!!! Our mystery chick is another Silkie!!!!!!!!
