I'm have 15 hens and one rooster. Various kinds, most from a polish rooster. They are happy free roam with supplemental feed provided. I get on average of three eggs a day. Is this normal? It seems low to me?

Yes, I live on a Christmas Tree Farm and I have to go egg hunting every night. I lock them up until about 2:00 to try to get them to lay in the house in the morning but I think they are holding them in (if that is possible).

Hens stop laying during their molt, or at least, part of it. They can stop in heat or extreme cold or when days get shorter or when they are stressed, etc. Mine free range and they never lay eggs anywhere but in the nests.
